"Good Luck", "Hope you like Indian food", "Got Curry?", "See you 10 pounds lighter", "Enjoy the bathroom"...Ya I laughed back when the jokes were funny.
Before coming to India, I was so excited to experiment with all the different types of Indian food because of the beloved "Kabob and Curry" on Thayer Street at Brown University. Trying Indian food for the first time my freshman year at Brown was amazing and became a must have once a week.
Indian food every meal, everyday! Exotic, spicy foods for breakfast and white toast; spicy Indian food tray at the cafeteria for lunch; and two bowls of spicy vegetarian dishes and chapati bread for dinner is quite an adjustment. Plus the runny nose, mouth on fire, burning stomach, and bathroom stops all day long. The food is very good in small portions, but it takes some getting used to eating it for every meal. Thank goodness for the Skippy peanut butter I brought- although its only been three days and my two spoonfuls of peanut butter each meal has emptied half the jar. Rice, peeled carrots and cucumbers, and fruit has also been saving me: peeled apples, mangoes (which I just tried for the first time), and bananas (yes Carly, I'm breaking the more than 1 a day rule). And of course, Domino's delivery service has become a must. Any more suggestions?
